Stopping Breaching in the AWS Cloud Training

12 April 2022

We are excited to again have delivered Cloud Incident Response training! Cloud Cyber Security Experts and member Fircy, with help from local AWS experts, delivered a unique free training event “Stopping credential breaches in the AWS Cloud” in the A3C Cyber Range.

This training was previously run by Ben Potter in 2021 and in such strong demand that we are continuing to run these throughout 2022 to help businesses learn about cloud security and incident response.

Credentials are the keys to your virtual data centre in the cloud. Mishandling or insecurely storing them can lead to an incident that you need to investigate and respond to. But how do you identify, eradicate and contain the adversary that has the credentials?

This event was tailored for those studying or new to working in a security operations related role who may have had limited experience responding to incidents in the cloud, and/or want to grow their knowledge and capability in this domain.

This full day hands-on course took participants through:

  • The different types of credentials and what they can be used for

  • Permissions management

  • Where credentials have been found and misused

  • Common places to use credentials

  • Detective controls

  • Log diving and indicators

  • Containment techniques

  • Privilege escalation and persistence techniques

  • Best practices for API keys and using temporary credentials

  • Creating persistence

  • Contain and eradicate your adversary

Participants received a certificate of completion.

More sessions will be available in other states in future, as well as virtual options. Please register interest here.
